In 2001, President George W. Bush nominated former Justice Department
lawyer Miguel Estrada to a seat on the federal courts of appeals. In
that instance, as today, the nominee was was a Hispanic with a

people who are today praising Sotomayor spent their time devising
extraordinary measures to kill Estrada’s chances.

Have an Opinion?

Outlawing opinion by Chuck Norris

It greatly alarms me that Americans' constitutional right of freedom of speech is being squeezed out of our culture. Several years ago, I watched then-"20/20" correspondent Diane Sawyer interview Saddam Hussein, who was dictator of Iraq at the time. She respectfully confronted him for the atrocities and executions he used as punishments for people who merely spoke out against him, his rule or his politics. Surprisingly naive of America's constitutional basis, Saddam asked, "Well, what happens to those who speak against your president?"

(He clearly was expecting that such speech was also a crime in the U.S. and punishable by law.) Shocked by his sheer ignorance of the U.S. -- and somewhat at a loss for words herself -- Diane quipped back in answering his question, "They host television talk shows!" Saddam's facial expression revealed that he was totally confused by her answer.

Sounds so far-out, doesn't it? Offensive speech being punishable by law? But it might not be that far off for America, especially if the course of free speech continues on its present track -- a path of progressive restrictions, both from our government and our culture.

For example, presently bill S. 909 is on the fast track through the Senate, poised under the guise of the Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act. While the bill purports to target crimes of brutality, not speech, once enacted, local justices could expand its interpretive enforcement to encompass a wider meaning than originally conceived. In the end, it could not only criminalize opinions (an unconstitutional act) but also provide elevated protection to pedophiles.

If our policymakers understood and followed the constitutional government our Founders laid down for us, they never would advocate any so-called hate crimes bill. As Rep. Ron Paul once wrote: "Hate crime laws not only violate the First Amendment, they also violate the Tenth Amendment. Under the United States Constitution, there are only three federal crimes: piracy, treason, and counterfeiting. All other criminal matters are left to the individual states. Any federal legislation dealing with criminal matters not related to these three issues usurps state authority over criminal law and takes a step toward turning the states into mere administrative units of the federal government."

The limiting of free speech is happening through not only legal ends but also social avenues. It was tragic to watch at the recent White House Correspondents' Association dinner how the present administration provided the platform for and then laughed at a parade of mean-spirited, cruel jokes about Rush Limbaugh, which made fun of his history of addiction to painkillers, wished him kidney failure, and suggested he might have been the 20th hijacker involved in 9/11. Is that even funny? Despite the fact that I believe even this offensive language is protected by the First Amendment, is it the type of belittling humor we should expect at a White House function? When the feds seek to silence their critics through intimidation and social demise, have they not failed to properly lead a blended nation and uphold the heart of the Constitution? Mark my words that the reinstitution of the Fairness Doctrine -- which would subject talk radio, among other media, to government regulation -- is right around the corner.

Government isn't the only one restricting free speech. We recently witnessed many in our culture clamping down on that basic American right via the travesty of the response to Carrie Prejean's -- who is Miss California and the Miss USA runner-up -- giving her honest opinion when a question was posed by a judge during the Miss USA contest. As a result of her respectfully giving her personal convictions, she's been persecuted and even has received death threats from those who oppose her. I don't care what your cause is. I don't care what your mission is. I don't care what the issue is. I don't care what your beliefs are. It is every American citizen's constitutional right to speak freely, without fear of repercussion. If the First Amendment is not there to protect anyone's offensive speech, then what type of speech is it protecting? It's simply un-American and unconstitutional to impede, harass, threaten or persecute anyone who is guilty of nothing more than sharing his opinion or even exercising his right to vote.

This is America, not Saddam's Iraq!

When free speech is restricted or punished, we can be certain that we've drifted from our roots.

Isn't it time we returned home to the Constitution?

A left-wing columnist from the Village Voice (writing in a UK publication) laments Obama's security stance. You've heard about the unhappiness on the radical left. Here it is:
Everything that the Republican Party does for the next year must be an alternative to the Obama health care plans!!! We need to pound on the cost, cost, cost and the intrusions that gov't bureaucracy will create! We need to talk about market based plans and we need to do this at the Federal, State and Local level. This has to fail and here's why:
An excellent paper (about 18 pages) on the history of free-market thinkers and thought. If you are not up on the subject, this is the intellectual underpinnings of supply-side economics and conservative economic world-view. It is well worth the read! (I love this stuff and actually found a couple surprises)

An article from the NYT about how great Norway is. I have to agree it was savvy that their sovereign wealth fund, bloated with petro-dollars bought into the market at the right time. Unfortunately it was the sovereign wealth fund and not the people of Norway. What they do not mention is the Norway I saw when I spent an extended time their with the Army (not as a tourist). It was one of the most depressing places I've ever seen. With the exception of a few fishermen, everyone seemed to have an office job, all of which were somehow associated with the government bureaucracy. Although people made very good salaries (some of the highest in the world) they all live in modest home, with small cars and all had less disposable income than the Americans or Germans that were there. I can only say that if my ancestors hadn't left the place 100 years ago, I'd be packing my bags now. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/30738235/

Obama Friday and Random Thoughts

Lets look at a few things our Exalted Messiah, Pagan God to the godless liberals, leftists and many Democrats, has pulled, said or flubbed this week.(Where is Joe Biden?)

Gateway Pundit
Obama whom during this recession, depression, job losing, economy failing, jet sets out to Kalifornia for a fundraiser, in Air Force One on the taxpayers dollar. And makes his outlandish "You ain't seen nothing yet" comment. Well personally I have seen all I want from B Hussein!!

And then Obama, whom never served this Great Country for any reason other then his motives, is going to Germany and Buchenwald. Like Obama had anything to do with it!! But having a great uncle whom did makes it so I guess!! But read it and see what Obama's Great Uncle has to say!!

Over at Cassie Fiano we have this Jewel. This is a real knee jerker, if we weren't dealing with such an idiot!!

From Legal Insurrection we have all this transparency and favoritism and back scratch9ing and the same damn politics we have always had. Some hope and change!! Or is that Hopeless Change? More cronyism reporting here at The Politically Jungle.

From Newsbusters comes this piece about all you "evil" white men and your hysterical carrying on about Obama's recent SCOTUS appointee, another classless racist piece from a classless racist liberal(probably a man hating femnist also! More racism!)
Racism? Liberal Racism? Look here at ToWhichIReplied, where you will also find this bit of advice.

I enjoy this site, Women of Caliber says no boys allowed but I sneak in anyway!! It offers a lot of great, useful advice and more gals should check it out!! On Sunday a group of us whom are going to Alaska this summer are getting together with some of the gals and youngsters going to give some shooting lessons, after we go over gun safety rules and make sure they are all understood!!
Because no one, especially the so called "weaker" sex should ever be a victim!! Guys, you should be able to protect yourself and your family. Women should be able to also and Women of Caliber is a great source!

Okay, enough time to go visit the Pawn Shop and see what they have that goes "BANG" or "BOOM"!!!

Another School Year

Is almost over. Another struggle with the school system trying to get as good an education as we can.
For the past 4 years we have asked, pleaded, begged, raged at, met with, emailed, phone calls made trying to find out how to help our son.
And it has sucked.
People in this 'quaint' little town called Northfield, like to rave about the great educational oportunities and quality education here, they are all morons and a$$hat as far as I am concerned. We have had to push and push and push. IEP plans. Meetings that were pointless, probably because half the flippin teachers would not show up.
You cannot say anything harsh to the teachers, you cannot ask hard, pointed questions because they hide behind the administration then.
Some teachers have tried, but over the years our son has been beat down and actually ridiculed to much by the a$$hat teachers at the Middle Schools and High School.
My son may fail a class, so whats that mean? Given his history and struggles with math I am more upset with the school and his teachers(past and present) then I am with him.

To top it off my youngest son brings home a paper we need to sign about sexuality! SEXUALITY?!?! WTH!?!
Well I signed it alright and put a few extra comments on it!! Told the kid of his teacher says anything to him about it to tell him to call me!!!

And to think of the money the Public School System keeps crying for!! And teacher politicians like David Bly and Kevin Dahle do everything in their power to accomodate them and the spead dire doom and gloom if we do not support their over the top spending!!

So we are glad the school year is almost over.
Here are a few prior posts, rants, bitches I have tossed out in the past!

Pawlenty, Unallotment and the DFL

Pawlenty is doing what the DFL would not or is incapable of doing, controling spending. The DFL party in Minnesota seems to think they have a bottomless well of money in taxes of some form or another. They do not seem to care about what happens to us, the taxpayer or the struggles we have. I have had an ongoing discussion with my State House Rep and it is like talking to a wall. He accepts no responsibility, whatsoever for the current finacial mess the State is in. He really thinks that big government, more spending and tax increases will solve all our problems.
He also believes we must tax the Godless Corporations and individuals whom are successful, because they are successfull and therefore should pay more instead  or reinvesting, researching new products and adding employees.
He obviously has not seen this. Or here
Of course being the good socialist he is he does not feel it is happening that way and only Government intervention will correct it. He also believes only Government mega spending can create jobs and move us forward!!
Since right now the voters in this state have allowed our Legislature, both House and Senate to be filled with like minded politicians. Not only that they are bond and determined to keep dumping money into the Public Schools with no apparent accountability, on top of that they voted to fund the teachers pension!!
How about MINE?
Here are a few links to read more about Pawlenty and Unallotment and the DFL whining and complaining.

Over at Exposing Liberal Lies we have some results in on the Porkulus bill and how successful is ..... IS NOT!!
And at Let Freedom Ring How will Obama is killing jobs!!

Okay I wandered away from my original meandering post about Pawlenty and my local House Rep.  But I think I said all I want, because anything else maybe nasty!!

Minnesota Majority Sues Election Officials Over Election Integrity

Action Alert!

Minnesota Majority Sues Election Officials Over Election Integrity
Vote Totals Don't Reconcile – Unable to Account for More Than 400,000 Votes

SOS Mark RitchieMinnesota Majority, joined by several state legislators and concerned citizens, launched a lawsuit in the Minnesota Supreme Court today, charging that Secretary of State Mark Ritchie and 25 county election have failed to comply with election laws. The action was announced in a press conference this morning.

The lawsuit is based upon research recently conducted by Minnesota Majority. We compared the Minnesota Statewide Voter Registration System (SVRS) to the official 2008 State Canvassing Board Report (SCBR) and discovered a discrepancy of over 400,000 votes. Further investigation revealed that voter history updates have not been posted in over 800 precincts spanning 25 counties. Both the SVRS and the SCBR were provided by the Minnesota Secretary of State's office. In late April, Bert Black, legal counsel to Secretary of State Mark Ritchie, told Minnesota Majority that SVRS voter history updates pertaining to the 2008 general election had been completed by all counties, but the data on the SVRS disk provided showed that not to be the case.

The federal Help America Vote Act (HAVA) and Minnesota statute 201.171 require the Secretary of State and county election officials to update the Statewide Voter Registration System (SVRS) immediately following an election. Minnesota Statute specifies that the task must be complete no later than 6 weeks following an election. But nearly 7 months after the November 2008 election, voter registration records are still not updated.

The lawsuit targets 25 counties that are missing voter history updates for one or more precincts, but the out-of-balance problems do not appear to be limited to just these counties. There are 18 additional counties that have ballot-to-voter history discrepancies in excess of 1% of the counted ballots. "There are thousands of precincts in which there is a discrepancy between ballot counts and voter history tallies," said Jeff Davis, president of Minnesota Majority and a plaintiff in the lawsuit. Excluding precincts for which there was no voter history results posted in SVRS, Minnesota Majority says there are 2,247 precincts with more ballots than voters, totaling 39,185 ballots that cannot be accounted for by voter histories in SVRS. By comparison, there were 1,063 precincts with fewer ballots than SVRS voters, totaling 2,066 votes. "This isn't simply a minor recordkeeping error," said Davis. "If we cannot trust our election officials to perform the basic job of balancing their books, how can we possibly have confidence in our election system?"

"The state legislature wrote our laws to ensure integrity and transparency in our elections," said State Representative Tom Emmer. "I'm troubled to see that the laws aren't being followed by the officials who we have entrusted to administer our elections. Instead of transparency, we have mud. How can we determine what's going on if we can't even balance the vote totals?"

State Representative Mark Buesgens added, "This is simply unacceptable. The people of Minnesota deserve an election system they can be confident in and frankly, this doesn't inspire much confidence in me."

Minnesota Majority has advocated for improvements in the integrity of Minnesota's electoral process since we initially discovered inconsistencies in voter registration records in October 2008. Specific reform measures, such as voter ID controls and independent audits, were introduced in the 2009 legislative session, but were defeated by the DFL-controlled state legislature.

Our investigation into election issues is ongoing.

4. When Will They Start Listening and Stop Spending?

1. Four Good Questions for Local Governments

Despite the DFL legislators' "Misery Tour Part 2" last week, where they flew around the state to try and convince Minnesotans that they were right in attempting to raise taxes to balance the budget, Governor Pawlenty's stand against raising taxes has resonated not only in Minnesota but also across the country. Pawlenty has been staunch in his view that raising taxes is not a good idea, and he was able to follow through on that in a way that flat-out surprised the liberal tax-and-spenders.

Of course liberal tax-and-spenders dislike Governor Pawlenty's opposition to tax increases because they can't comprehend government living within its means. A group of mayors flew around the state crying that if Governor Pawlenty reduced city aid payments they would have to lay off cops and firefighters.

But Governor Pawlenty didn't buckle. Instead he directed four simple questions to local government officials to be answered before they begin complaining.

1. Is there a rainy day fund that can be used?

2. Where is the money from property taxes going?

3. Has there been an employee pay freeze implemented?

4. How have they tried to downsize and streamline operations?

Please take these four questions to your own city council members, county commissioners, and school board members. Tell them that you appreciate that your taxes haven't been increased this year and then hold them accountable to answer these basic questions. Email us if you get a response!

2. Another Nice Mess They Got Us Into

When the legislative session finally came to an end last week you may have been wondering how Minnesota got into this budget mess and why the legislature failed to balance the budget. Well, it didn't happen overnight, nor did it happen just in a few weeks. The mess the legislature found itself in after the clock struck midnight on May 18th (the last day of the session) came about not because of the Governor, not because of a lack of an "Override Three," but because of the DFL's addiction to their tax-and-spend ways.

The stage was set for last week's scenario at the end of the 2008 legislative session. Legislators in 2008 decided to overspend by $1 billion and push the state's budget problems to 2009 so that they could "look good" right before the 2008 elections.

Fast forward a year and the $1 billion (or more) in new taxes that the DFL-controlled House and Senate passed twice, and Governor Pawlenty vetoed both times, is seen in a different light. They are trying to frame their tax increases as necessary but in fact their tax increases are nothing more than a way to cover up the budget mess they helped create in 2008.

To read more about the nice mess they got us into, check out Phil Krinkie's column here.

3. Why Tax the Rich Doesn't Work

Over and over in the past several months the rhetoric of "tax the rich" has echoed throughout political discussions. The discussion on taxing the rich is over in Minnesota until the next legislative session. However, you can be sure that the argument will not go away.

The Wall Street Journal published a great article on why taxing the rich in order to gather more revenue for state and local governments does not work. The basic premise: job creators and their businesses are mobile; people and businesses can move to and from low and high taxed states, and they do. South Dakota knows this, which is why they are now advertising on Minnesota radio stations their excellent business climate and low taxes.

A study based on individuals' relocation habits from 1998 to 2007 in the WSJ points out that when states impose high income-tax increases on "the rich," a large number of "rich" people left the state. In fact, the study found that every day during that time period 1,100 people moved from the 9 highest income tax states, and relocated in the 9 lowest income tax (or no income tax) states.

The "tax the rich" argument sounds great to the average person because they don't consider themselves rich. However imagine yourself as a high income earner ($250,000 plus), and it's easy to see why "the rich" want to flee states with high income taxes.

To read the rest of this great article, "Soak the Rich, Lose the Rich," click here.

4. When Will They Start Listening and Stop Spending?

An interesting Rasmussen poll released just before Memorial Day showed that the vast majority of Americans (77%) believe that uncontrolled spending is a bigger problem than people not wanting to pay more taxes. When the question was asked of "Mainstream Americans," 90% responded "spending" was the bigger problem. This statistic is amazing considering the massive and unprecedented amounts of spending that politicians from Congress to our own state government have been doing. It's no wonder that even President Obama couldn't help but admit that the government is "out of money."

Wine

To my friends who enjoy a glass of wine and those who don't.

As Ben Franklin said:

"In wine there is wisdom,

in beer there is freedom,

in water there is bacteria."

In a number of carefully controlled trials,

Scientists have demonstrated that if we drink 1 liter of water each day, at the end of the year we would have absorbed more than 1 kilo of Escherichia coli, (E. coli) - bacteria found in feces.

In other words, we are consuming 1 kilo of poop.

However, we do NOT run that risk when drinking wine & beer (or tequila, gin, rum, whisky or other liquor), because alcohol has to go through a purification process of boiling, filtering and/or fermenting.

Remember:

Water = Poop, Wine = Health .

Therefore, it's better to drink wine and talk stupid,

than to drink water and be full of shit.

There is no need to thank me for this valuable information:

I'm doing it as a public service.

Tuesday Thoughts

Over at Cassie Fiano she has an article about Obama and his "stern" warning to North Korea. Between Obama and the pointless United Nations "stern" talk, I am betting Kim Jon ll is pissin his pants. I am surprised Obama is not apologizing to the World and Kimmie boy for the United States developing the "bomb". Maybe thats nexy on B Hussein's agenda!
Ms Fiano also has an article here at American Issues Projuect about health care. Good read.

B Hussein's pick already under scrutiny by the conservatives! But wait!! Some of the Democrats are not so sure either. Plus she claims Courts make policy!! See anything worng with that?

And this gal did what she had to. She protected herself, with her GUN and won!! And look she was a minority and so was her assailant!! How are the leftist anti gun nutz going to spin this?

Head in the sand, cover up, gutless French!! @Exposing Liberal Lies.

Check this out. Our Minnesota DFL wants to tax the successful, those that have created business and provide products and sevices while employing people and are building their businesses, unlike what the Government can do, in spite of the blathering of our local  25b Rep. So Maryland has raised their taxes creating a millionaire "tax" and a year later 1/3 of them have left the State!! DOH!! @ Freedom Dogs. More here @ Fausta's

@ Gateway Pundit. Obama stiffed by Nevada Governor whom is a bit miffed with the Exalted One  Also @ Gateway whom is Obama trying to get rid of with Chrysler Dealers? Thats Hopeless change for ya!! Who is he going to raise taxes from? His special interest groups like ACORN?

Kalifornia's Supremes got it right!!
Well 1/2 right!

Okay enough! Gotta go slice bread for tomorrows spaghetti feed!!

Then and Now!

Taxpayers = ATMs

The Democrats never saw a tax or tax increase that they didn't like.
Never mind that our economy hasn't seen such challenges for 60 years.
And never mind that most families are cutting expenses and setting
priorities and living within their means. Not the Democrats in
government! What won't they think of next? They want to raise taxes on
incomes. And they would allow the counties to increase sales taxes.
They think we're walking ATMs! Well, we’re not. And Minnesotans will
vote in 2010 for a change in legislators.

Tim Pawlenty vs the Liberal Democrats

Yep, the new goal for the DFL and their allies in the media is to
destroy Tim Pawlenty. It is their only hope of spinning this
Legislative session into any other then the colossal failure of the
urban liberal DFL leaders and their radical agenda.

More Memorial Day

As I sit with my coffee this morning I think about yesterday and how much it meant to my Father that his eldest Grandson had expressed interest in Dad's military service to our great country.
I thought about the difference between today's entertainment personalities and yesterdays.
No contest. Today's Hollywood twits like Sean Penn, George Clooney, Dixie Chicks, Madonna and all the others can not hold a candle to past acters and sports figures whom served this country admirably, with honor and some leaving successful careers to do so and then returning to continue said careers.
Not only did they serve but their skills as entertainers and   athletes were so far above and beyond what we see, for the most part - there are those today whom have supported and served, but does not compare to the list below. So today remember those whom served and thank those you know for all they have done!!
Eddie Albert
- already in the movies.  Entered USN,  Well decorated for service in the Pacific.
Gene Autry
- age 35 and already a star.  USAir Corps flying over the Burma Road.
Lew Ayers
- anti-war but served as a medic in the US Army in the Philippines.
Richard Boone
- not yet a star.  USN at age 26.
Ernest Borgnine - a star later.  Entered the USN in 1935 serving 10 years, 4 in combat.
Charles Bronson - not yet a star.  US Air Corps - 25 combat missions.  Entered at age 22.
Robert Cummings - already a star.  Entered the US Air Corps at age 34.  Flight instructor.
Tony Curtis - not yet a star.  Entered USN at age 18.
Joe Dimaggio
- Baseball star.  Entered the US Air Corps at age 29.  Special Services.
Kirk Douglas - acting but not yet a star.  USN until badly hurt in an accident.
Douglas Fairbanks, Jr. - Big-time star.  Entered USN at age 33.  Waived easy duty for combat.  Worked with British Commandoes.  Well decorated.

Glenn Ford - already a beginning star.  Entered USMC.  Served on camera crew from Normandy thru Europe.
Clark Gable - big-time star.  Entered US Air Corps just short of his 42nd birthday.  Didn't have to go but pulled strings to do his duty to his Country.  Too old to be a pilot but went on many combat missions.  Well decorated.
Hank Greenberg - Baseball star.  US Air Corps at age 32.  Became a captain.
Tom Harmon - sports announcer.  Entered US Air Corps at age 22.  Flew combat missions over Burma Road in Asia.  Shot down and MIA for 30 days.  WIA.  Well decorated.

Memorial Day

It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived." -- General George Patton
Thanks Dad and everyone else whom served this Country!!

Spent the day at my parents, went to dinner and of course spent some time on Mom's computer solving a few issues and problems  she had. The computer that is!!
Went to the East Wind Buffet and ate way to much.
After my eldest son whom has developed a keen interest in History in particular WW II and the Korean War, spent some time with his Grandfather talking about his Grandfather's time in the military. Dad fought in the Korean War as a Sgt and Squad Leader. He fought in couple of the biggest battles, Heartbreak Ridge and Bloody Ridge.
Dad has never spoke a lot about his experiences in the war   until  these last few years and he has had some interesting tales to tell. Today he told my son of a time he he manned  a machine gun position and laid covering fire for a squad that was working its way around enemy positions to launch a grenade attack. He also has told tales how his squad took a position which had been battered and crews killed and turned into a fortified position and held the enemy off in another fight.
At some point he also was put in for a Bronze Star. His platoon received a letter of commendation from his Divisions Commanding General.
He has told many bits and pieces over the years. It has been interesting hearing more and now seeing my son's interest and excitement in hearing these tales reminds me of what my Dad did for his country. A north woods farm boy whom grew up hunting and fishing, working hard with his Father and brothers, scratching a living out of a land that grows rocks better then anything else!!
He went off to war and do his duty as so many do in Wadena County. He fought hard, came home and built a good life with my Mom. Raised 4 kids whom all took different paths.
Hunting up north with Dad has always been special and a lesson in what life was like growing up there. He passed many of them onto me and I have attempted to pass them on to my sons.
My Father has worked hard all his life and now is getting ready to retire, finally at 78 years old.
You know he is one tough old bird!!!
Thanks Dad!

Rambling thoughts on a Friday.

Friday before the Memorial Weekend. Home for the next four days and almost three weeks since I took a shot to the leg from a line drive in softball. Still not recovered, still has a heck of a lump, redness and discomfort. Am supposed to stay off and rest it. Elevation.
BORED!!
I should be getting the boat set up and ready. I should be working on some projects. But no, not happening.
BORED!!
Okay frustrated also.
But I have had way to much time to cruise all my favorite blogs and news sites. Read a bit, catch up on my stack of Gun related magazines. A pile of sales brochures from Kimber, Stoeger, Walther, etc I picked up at The Frontiersman off 394 yesterday when I stopped by after holding a class in Minnetonka for Minnetonka PD yesterday. I was pleasantly surprised when I walked in and found boxes of .380 acp!! Bought 2. They also had 9mm, but I am pretty well stocked up with 9mm. They also had 12 gauge double ought buck. 10 round boxes for 6.00. Bought 2.
Can't be over supplied on ammo these days!!
Gotta be ready for the Obama Zombies and A$$hats!!

As I look over various blogs and news sites, Minnesota State Legislature site, it is interesting to see the finger pointing and whining especially from the Democrats and Liberals whom are screaming that they did not get the funding for their special needs like GAMC yet they funded "invasive earthworm research", they also funded the Xcel Center debt, passed funds for Hockey Arenas, Dog Parks, Bike Trails and other "essential" services over Health Care, purchase more land for the DNR to maintain with what funds? Go here and here for more on this DFL debacle!!
SO when are the Liberals going to wake up and realize that funding essential servicea are what is important and to quit funding their special interests by cutting funds to what we need and then holding that over the Minority Party and the Governor, screaming and whining that it is not the DFLs fault? What are they thinking? Besides looking out for their Special Interests, Education Minnesota, Unions, etc. And when I say special interests I am talking about the teachers pension which people like Bly (D-25b) and Dahle (D-25) make their pet efforts. Now everyone else who has a pension has taken a hit. But do we see anything done for them? No! But the teachers? Some of whom will be getting 4000.00 a month in pension suffering or worrying? Not hardly!! We are in a recession, people are looking for jobs and we have a legislature passing Funding Bills that fund invasive earthworm research. What is wrong with this picture??

Now here is a grill for the backyard!!

Fwd: Legislative E-update: On-time Finish and Balanced Budget Delivered to Governor

Below is the biggest piece of unmitigated fecal matter I have ever seen!! Who does Bly think he is fooling? 5 months they had to work something out!! 5 months they had opportunity to reach across the aisle and work with the Governor!!
Did they?
NO!!
They wait until the last minute and then try to shove something through that is all about the DFLs wants, needs, special interests!!
Forcing the Governor to use his veto power and then turn around and whine and point fingers!!
You people that voted for this idiot need to find your own will and your brains!!

Rep. David Bly
Legislative E-update: On-time Finish and Balanced Budget Delivered to
Governor

Dear Neighbors,

The 2009 Legislative Session adjourned Monday, May 18th . The last bill
we sent to the Governor's desk contains the final elements necessary to
balance our state's $6.4 billion budget shortfall responsibly with more
Minnesotans sharing in the budget solution. The Governor should sign the
bill. If the Governor vetoes the bill, the elderly, disabled, college
students and health care workers will bear the brunt of the state's
budget pain.

Governor Pawlenty already has signed all of the Legislature's funding
bills into law, including the nearly $2 billion in budget cuts we sent.
An infusion of $1.8 billion in federal recovery funds also helped close
the gap.

The budget-balancing bill passed by the Legislature on Monday would
fill the remaining gap by delaying $1.8 billion in school payments and
raising $1 billion in ongoing revenue. The new revenue would come
largely from a new income tax bracket for the top 2.3% of Minnesota
income taxpayers - those earning $250,000 and more. If the Governor
signs the bill, joint filers earning $300,000 per year would pay an
additional $109 in taxes per year - or $9 per month.

Overall, our balanced budget is the result of significant compromise
and months of public input.

The Governor agreed there was a need to raise revenue this session, but
only supported using borrowing. Since borrowing was a large reason the
state and country are in this recession, the idea was bipartisanly
rejected. After the Governor's proposed borrowing plan failed in the
Legislature, he refused to consider other options to fill that $1
billion hole - other than cuts. After $2 billion in cuts that the
Legislature made, there are few places to cut that would not result in
significant job loss or serious pain to the most vulnerable Minnesotans.

We believe $2 billion in cuts should be accompanied by $1 billion in
sustainable, on-going revenue. Our state's economy will be negatively
impacted by further job losses caused by excessively deep state budget
cuts.

If Governor Pawlenty does not sign the budget-balancing bill into law,
he has indicated he will begin the unallotment process starting July 1.
To give you some historical perspective, unallotment has only been used
four other times in our state's history and usually for much smaller
budget gaps. Unallotments totaling $2.7 billion would be 10 times larger
than any other in state's history and would be made without public
input, behind closed doors.

The Governor has already shown us where he plans to make the cuts. His
first step was a $381 million line-item veto of the General Assistance
Medical Care (GAMC), removing health care coverage for over 30,000
adults who make less than $7,800 per year. According to the Governor's
own Department of Human Services Commissioner, GAMC provides health care
to the poorest of the poor and the sickest of the sick. Seventy percent
of these patients have a serious mental illness and many of them -
including veterans - are homeless.

Considering the Governor protected wage earners making over $250,000 in
order to kick those making $7,800 off of health care, I am very
concerned what his unallotments will do to lower and middle income
Minnesotans. He indicated he will make additional deep cuts to
hospitals, higher education, and local government. These cuts
disproportionately impact the elderly, the disabled, and our students,
spark steep property tax increases, and will cause significant job
losses in health care and higher education. The Governor can make a
better choice for Minnesota by signing the balanced budget bill the
Legislature sent.

Please contact Governor Pawlenty and ask him to sign the balanced
budget bill. Call (651) 296-3391 or e-mail tim.pawlenty@state.mn.us.
Thank you.

You can track which bills have been signed or vetoed on this website:

http://www.governor.state.mn.us/priorities/legislation/index.htm.

Sincerely,

Rep. David Bly

Outrageous!!

Does not cover it! This article and accompanying video shows where our money hungry DFL party really is at!!
Care about the people? NO!!
Care about the budget deficit? NO!!
They cry and whine and complain about funding not being there for the GAMC and other social welfare programs and they fund invasive earthworm research? Bail out the XCel Center, bike trails? Dog Parks!! Then whine and complain!! You jerks! You all need to be tossed out!
And you are running around the State whining that you did not get the funding you wanted!! Because you spent it on what? WHAT?
Reading this article it seems like you did not even try to work things out!! In fact your so full of your majority you thought all was going to go your way!!
Notice it mentions leadership? Apparently there is none on the DFL side!
We have no leadership right no in either the House or the Senate. All it is fund my interest and to hell with taking care of the real needs!! Invasive Worms over GAMC!!
That is so wrong!!
And you know dang well the DFL party is running around the State blaming everything on Pawlenty and the Republicans.
It is so much crap!!
And I know my DFL Rep David Bly (25b) is right in the thick of it!! But he is such a good little party hack and lemming!!
As is our Senate Rep Kevin Dahle(25).

Thank God for Pawlenty!! At least he has some common sense, more then all the DFLers do!!

Taxpayers League of Minnesota eUpdate

1. Yankees Sweep Twins; Governor Sweeps Democrats

2. As Predicted, No Veto Override this Session

3. Constitutional Tax Increase Spends Money for Nothing

4. A Bill to Saddle Future Generations With Debt

5. Last Chance for your Tax Cut Rally T-Shirt

1. Yankees Sweep Twins; Governor Sweeps Democrats

The legislature's work done or undone, the Minnesota Constitution requires the legislature to adjourn by the third Monday in May. Thanks to the Constitution and Governor Pawlenty, Minnesotans will be spared another tax increase.

Just like the Twins who failed in four attempts to beat the New York Yankees, the DFL controlled legislature went down swinging in their fourth desperate attempt to extort more money from Minnesota taxpayers. Their last strike out was similar to their previous at bats which contain higher income taxes and a doubling of taxes on alcohol.

Like a runner trying to steal home, this last ditch effort by the Democrats will be thrown out when it reaches the Governor's desk. Similar to the Twins returning home after losing four straight, the Democrats are leaving the Capitol after four and a half months, having failed to balance the state's budget.

2. As Predicted, No Veto Override this Session

As the clock struck midnight on Monday, this year's legislative session ended. There was no "fairy tale" ending for the tax-loving liberals leading the House and Senate as they were unable to override Governor Pawlenty's veto of their tax bill. The tax bill vetoed two weekends ago would have increased taxes by $1 billion, and DFL leadership attempted to override the veto of this tax increase because they can't bare the thought of shrinking state government.

With their addiction to spending so strong, the only option they had was to place a bigger burden on Minnesota's taxpayers. After the DFL leadership in the House failed to override Governor Pawlenty's veto of their first $1 billion tax increase bill (which not even every DFLer voted for), they pushed through a second $1 billion tax increase bill in the wee hours of Monday night.

Their continued "fairy tale" of increasing taxes will not come true, because Governor Pawlenty will likely veto their last desperate attempt to raise taxes. Governor Pawlenty understands that the majority of Minnesotans can't afford higher taxes, especially during this recession. It's the same reason why the DFL couldn't even force all their members to vote for these bloated tax increases, much less find three Republicans to join them in overriding a veto.

3. Constitutional Tax Increase Spends Money for Nothing

Another deal struck during the final hours of the legislative session was a bill spending the money from the last election's Constitutional tax increase. The money will come from an increase in the state sales tax by 3/8 of one percent beginning July 1st.

In a session of constant spending scrutiny, the Legislative Commission appointed to spend the new tax revenue was basically the only place where fiscal restraint wasn't "necessary" because the money was Constitutionally dedicated to be spent on arts and outdoor recreation.

Thus the Commission chose to spend $36 million of taxpayer money on something not only unnecessary, but also on something that Minnesotans already have. The $36 million would go to a paper company, UPM Blandin, in northern Minnesota to buy "conservation easements" so that the company will continue to allow hunters and other outdoor enthusiasts to use their land. But UPM Blandin has maintained this practice for the last hundred years without one dime of taxpayer money. So why would the legislature fork over $36 million to pay for what we already receive at no cost? That's the $36 million question!

4. A Bill to Saddle Future Generations With Debt

On a federal note, Congress passed a bill last week to spend $6.4 billion in taxpayer money on green projects for schools across the country. We're in a sad state when $6.4 billion doesn't seem like much money. Rep. John Kline from Minnesota's 2nd District sought to remind us how ridiculous Congress' spending habits have become by introducing an amendment to this bill that would change the name of the bill to "a bill to saddle future generations with billions in debt, and for other purposes." Needless to say, our "spend, spend, spend" liberal Congress voted the amendment down.

5. Last Chance for your Tax Cut Rally T-Shirt

If you missed purchasing your "Minnesota: Land of 10,000 Taxes" t-shirt at the Tax Cut Rally, now is your last chance to purchase one (or more). Check out the t-shirt design here. Quote for Monday

Over five thousand
years ago, Moses said to the children of Israel
" pick up your shovel , mount your asses and camels , and I will
lead you to the promise land".

Roosevelt said, " Lay down your shovels , sit on your asses , and
light up a camel , this is the promised land".

Now Obama is going to
steal your shovel , kick your asses , Raise the price of camels , and
mortgage the promised land.

Biden opens mouth

And once again commits a gaffe by admitting where the Veep's secure bunker is!! Well now I am betting our enemies are happy to know that...so they can avoid hitting it knowing that he is 2nd in line and if it ever comes down to it, Biden would really muck things up if he were in charge!!
Wow....Wonder what B Hussein said after this one?

Education Minnesota

Is a greedy bunch, with many supplying questionable teaching to our children, yet they seem to feel they are better and more "entitled" then those of us and our children paying for their ineptness.

From Boots On

Education Minnesota and the Democrats are planning another kick in the stomach to ordinary taxpayers.

It
seems their pension plan is down -- and they want tapayers to bring it
back up to "fully funded" level. To the tune of millions upon millions
of dollars of course.

Well, I got news. Lots of pension plans
and 401ks and 403bs are down. There's no bailout for those people. Yet
Education Minnesota expects those same people to bail the teachers out
because they are special. How about this: live with less the way
working folks must do.

Some teachers will retire early and
receive the princely sum of $4,000 a month or more from their pensions.
Sorry, but any sympathy for you guys just drained away.

Has
anyone noticed how for-profit companies have phased out their pensions,
yet public employees keep rolling merrily along on the strength of the
hard-working people who have no pension. How long can this go on
unchecked?

Taxpayers League of Minnesota eUpdate

1. DFL’s New Tax Bill Vetoed
2. Why There Won’t be a Veto Override This Year
3. Hockey Rink First in Veto Hat Trick
4. When $17 Billion is a Small Amount
5. Thank You Local Watchdogs

1. DFL’s New Tax Bill Vetoed
The DFL leading the state legislature broke their own rules last week by not finishing their tax bill (among major spending bills) by midnight last Thursday. They worked long into the night to come up with yet another bill to increase taxes. Their new tax bill attempted to increase taxes on alcohol, credit card companies, and creates a new 4th tier income tax.

Early Friday morning the state House passed their bill through with a vote of 86-45 (all the Republicans and one Democrat, Rep. Gene Pelowski of Winona voted against it). At that time the bill didn’t even have numbers in it, and instead was full of blank spaces which were filled in later as to how the new tax revenue would be spent. The Star Tribune quoted House Minority Leaders Marty Seifert as saying, “I’ve never seen anything like this. It has all blanks in it.”

The new DFL tax bill raised taxes by $1 billion. It was re-passed by the House and Senate Friday night, and in the wee hours of Saturday morning, Governor Pawlenty practiced what he preached by vetoing the billion dollar tax increase.

Since everyone knew the tax bill would be vetoed, it is merely another round in the “Blame Game” that the DFL leadership has been playing since last December when they first learned of the state’s budget deficit.

2. Why There Won’t be a Veto Override This Year
Although there have been rumors of another veto override because the Governor has repeatedly vowed to veto all tax increases this session, this year is completely different from last year and an override just won’t happen.

The veto override came about last year because of ten years of lobbying for a gas tax, a rebound off of the 35W bridge collapse, and the Minnesota Chamber’s caving to support it.

This year is nothing like last year. In fact a poll was just conducted by the Star Tribune that shows nearly 60 percent of Minnesotans oppose across the board tax increases, and 40 percent agree that the state’s budget should be balanced using only spending reductions. These statistics are having an effect on the DFL as they struggled to get their original tax bills passed in the first place. When liberals have a hard time voting for tax increases, you can be sure that getting an override to pass a tax increase will be impossible.

To read more about the impossibility of a veto override, check out Phil Krinkie’s column here.

3. Hockey Rink First in Veto Hat Trick
Earlier this year when Governor Pawlenty reduced Local Government Aid to help balance this year’s state budget, several cities cried wolf saying they would be forced to cut back on fire and police.

Last week St. Paul had the opportunity to spend $32 million because the legislature passed a bill that included forgiving the rest of their loan to the city to help them build the Xcel Energy Center. But when the City of St. Paul had the opportunity to spend this money on fire and police, they opted instead for the building of an ice rink.

Thus the first veto of the session. Governor Pawlenty called the City out on their wasteful spending habits, saying that he would have signed the bill that included the loan forgiveness had the City wanted to spend the money on something of higher priority.

Once again we see that the reason the state and so many local governments are in the budget problems they are in is not due to a lack of money, but out-of-control spending habits. The first veto of the session was proof of that. Thanks Governor for calling out St. Paul on their wasteful spending.

4. When $17 Billion is a Small Amount
On a federal note, President Obama detailed more of his proposed budget for the 2010 budget last week. Across the large media outlets were headlines touting $17 billion in savings because that is how much President Obama has planned to cut out from last year’s budget. Although $17 billion is a lot of money, when the entire budget is a record $1.17 trillion over the next year, one must wonder why cutting that (relatively) small amount out the budget is a news story at all.

The truth is that President Obama’s budget is actually spending more money than ever before. He was quoted in the Washington Post as saying, “We can no longer afford to spend as if deficits didn’t matter and waste is not our problem.” Well, his $17 billion in “savings” will be eaten up by interest payments alone on the federal government’s $11.2 trillion debt. Sorry President Obama, but your actions seem to say that deficits and waste don’t really matter.

5. Thank You Local Watchdogs
Thanks to all of you who participated in last Saturday’s local taxpayer watchdog training. We had a great day with an abundance of talented speakers and lots of good information on how to be an activist when it comes to city, county, and/or school district spending.

Taxman!!

Here in Minnesota we have taxes and more taxes and politicians whom love taxes....Democrats and a few RINOs whom cannot resist taxes.
These politicians have a lot of special needs and interest groups to keep happy. PACs etc. Plus their own save the world causes like windmills, ethanol, education(making sure the pensions are well funded!) etc.
Our favorite, taxman, socialist, in my House District, 25b, is the estimable David Bly. We also have a Senator whom is not much better, Kevin Dahle. Both are teachers and both like to act like there is no such thing as a bad tax and if you disagree with them you are stupid. (have emails
from one of them to that effect, although he will deny it!)
So teh Tax Foundation has come out with their 2009 Facts and Figures. Okay a bunch of conservative extremists I can hear the libtards already. But Facts are Facts and lets see how Minnesota ranks!

Minn. $46,106 16th in nation in income.
Okay I'll buy that, but I am wondering if they include all the illegal aliens?

Minn. April 27 8th. Tax Freedom date.
Well at least it is not number 1!!

Minn. 4.64 41st. State business climate
41st? That is not so good!!

Minn. 4.33 44th. Corporate Tax Index.
Hmmm seems a bit on the bad side?

Minn. 4.34 39th Individual Income Tax
Hey!! We broke 40 at least!!

Minn. 4.59 40th. State Sales Tax
Well in the 40's!

Well I think you get the idea. We are taxed and they just passed another one!!
Taxman...

Arrogant Americans, Mr. President?

Peter Heck

As I was sitting in church waiting for the start of the service, my grandpa came walking towards me pointing his finger. No matter how old I get, and no matter how long he’s been out of the U.S. Navy, that’s still an intimidating sight. As he approached me, his voice quivered as he said, “We saved that continent twice...how dare my president apologize for this country’s arrogance.” My grandpa is right. Americans need not apologize to the world for their arrogance; rather, Americans should apologize to their forefathers for the arrogance of their president.

Barack Obama’s first foreign trip as President of the United States has confirmed the naiveté so many of us feared during the election cycle. But worse than that, it has also demonstrated that our president suffers from either a complete misunderstanding of our heritage and history, or an utter contempt for it. Neither is excusable.
Garnering cheers from the French of all people, President Obama declared, “In America, there is a failure to appreciate Europe’s leading role in the world. Instead of celebrating your dynamic union and seeking to partner with you to meet common challenges, there have been times where America has shown arrogance and been dismissive, even derisive.” Consider that Obama spoke these words just 500 miles from the beaches of Normandy, where the sand is still stained with 65-year-old blood of “arrogant Americans.”
Indeed, columnist Mark Whittington observes, “One should remind Mr. Obama and the Europeans how America has ‘shown arrogance’ by saving Europe from itself innumerable times in the 20th Century. World War I, World War II, the Cold War, and the wars in the Balkans were largely resolved by American blood, treasure, and leadership.” But all that appears lost on the president’s seemingly insatiable quest to mend fences he imagines have been tarnished by the bullish George W. Bush.
If Obama wishes to continue trampling the presidential tradition of showing class to former office holders and publicly trash Bush for his own personal gain, so be it. But all Americans should make clear that no man – even if he is the president – will tarnish the legacy of those Americans who have gone before us. Ours is not a history of arrogance. It is a history of courage, self-sacrifice, and honor.
When abusive monarchs repressed the masses, Americans resisted and overthrew them. When misguided policies led to the unjust oppression of fellow citizens, Americans rebelled and overturned them. When millions of impoverished and destitute wretches sought a new beginning, Americans threw open the door and welcomed them. When imperial dictators were on the march, Americans surrendered their lives to stop them. When communist thugs threatened world peace, Americans bled to defeat them. When an entire continent was overwhelmed with famine and hunger, Americans gave of themselves to sustain it. When terrorist madmen killed the innocent and subjugated millions, Americans led the fight to topple them.
This is the legacy that generations of Americans have left. If President Obama seeks stronger relations with the world community, perhaps he should begin by reminding them of these very truths, rather than condemning his own countrymen on foreign shores. This “obsessive need to put down his own country,” has caused blogger James Lewis to call President Obama a “stunningly ignorant man” who has evidently never spoken to a concentration camp survivor, a Cuban refugee, a boat person from Vietnam, a Soviet dissident, or a survivor of Mao’s purges. Unfortunately, I can no longer bring myself to give Mr. Obama that benefit of the doubt. Not after looking at the pain in my grandpa’s eyes...a man who still carries shrapnel in his body from his service to this country.

As a student and teacher of history, I recognize that America has made mistakes...plenty of them, in fact. But one of the great things about our people has been their courage and humility in admitting and correcting those mistakes. God willing, they will prove that willingness again in four years and correct the mistake that is the presidency of Barack Obama.

Next step? No guns allowed for right-wing 'extremists'

This is absolutely ridiculous! It is Big government out of control and it needs tot stop before all our Freedoms are gone!!

A new gun law being considered in Congress, if aligned with Department of Homeland Security memos labeling everyday Americans as potential "threats," could potentially deny firearms to pro-lifers, gun-rights advocates, tax protesters, animal rights activists, and a host of others – any already on the expansive DHS watch list for potential "extremism."

Do not get it.

The DFL does not get it.
The "Gimme" crowd in Minnesota does not get it.
They jump all over anyone whom questions taxes, how they are being spent, where they are being spent and why. They do not ever question why the DFL never mentions "fiscal" responsibility or stewardship of our tax dollars. They seem to think the Conservatives want to abolish all taxes. No we do not. But the gimme aka Democrats refuse to believe and in their usual manner resort to hysterics and outlandish claims, as you will find here at the a RedStrib article on new taxes in Minnesota. I mean to read some of these comments, one wonders if
A.) is there any intelligence present or thought nefore they post?
B') Is there any independent thought amongst these hysterics? see "alittlethina" comments.

But the point is we have more taxes.

They also had to sneak it through as they knew very well that anyone with common sense or concern for the taxpayer would question it.

I know our intrepid House Representative form 25b has no clue. He votes for any and all tax or spending increases. When you question him about it he reacts in typical hysterics. He has no clue how to budget either as he has shown me in the past. In his world the "x" dollars coming in will never run out and if he meeds more for his pet projects he will push for tax increases.

Under the bill, a new fourth-tier income tax rate of 9 percent would be created for married couples filing jointly and earning more than $250,000. The same rate would apply to single taxpayers making more than $141,250, and to single heads of households making more than $212,500.

The bill would charge credit card companies a 30 percent surtax on income from interest exceeding 15 percent.

It also would raise sales taxes from 2.5 to 5 percent, along with excise taxes, on alcoholic beverages. Another provision in the bill grants higher tax credits to small-batch brewers.

Revenue raised by the bill would amount to $516 million from the new income tax rate, $241 million from the higher alcohol tax rates and $216 million from the credit card interest surtax.

Amazing isn't it? Once again you hear or see nothing! NOTHING! From our DFL controlled House and Senate about "controlling" costs!

Why is that?

Askk your DFL politician, tell me what they say. You'll get hysterics. Trust me.

Red Fridays!

Received this via an email. Supposed to forward it.
I will and I'll blog it!

Will  you give this to my  Daddy?

As  a Company, Southwest Airlines is going to support 'Red  Fridays.'

Last week I was in Atlanta , Georgia attending a  conference. While I was
in the airport, returning home, I heard  several people behind me
beginning to clap and cheer. I  immediately turned around and witnessed
One of the greatest acts  of patriotism I have ever seen

Moving thru the terminal  was a group of soldiers in t heir camos. As they
began heading to  their gate, everyone (well almost everyone) was abruptly
to their  feet with their hands waving and cheering.

When I saw the  soldiers, probably 30-40 of them, being applauded and
Cheered for,  it hit me. I'm not alone. I'm not the only red-blooded
American  who still loves this country and supports our troops and their
 families.

Of course I immediately stopped and began  clapping for these young unsung
heroes who are putting their lives  on the line everyday for us so we can
go to school, work and home  without fear or reprisal.

Just when I thought I could not  be more proud of my country or of our
Service men and women, a  young girl, not more than 6 or 7 years old ran
up to one of the  male soldiers... He kneeled down and said 'hi.'

The little  girl then asked him i f he would give something to her daddy
for  her.

The young soldier, who didn't look any older than  maybe 22 himself, said
he would try and what did she want to give  to her daddy. Then suddenly
the little girl grabbed the neck of  this soldier, gave him the biggest
hug she could muster and then  kissed him on the cheek

The mother of the little girl, who  said her daughter's name was Courtney,
told the young soldier that  her husband was a Marine and had been in Iraq
for 11 months now.  As the mom was explaining how much her daughter
Courtne y missed  her father, the young soldier began to tear up.

When this  temporarily single mom was done explaining her situation, all
of  the soldiers huddled together for a brief second... Then one of  the
other servicemen pulled out a military-looking walkie-talkie.  They
started playing with the device and talking back and forth on  it..

After about 10-15 seconds of this, the young soldier  walked back over to
Courtney, bent down and said this to her, 'I  spoke to your daddy and he
told me to give this to you.' He then  hugged this little girl that he had
just met and gave her a kiss  on the cheek. He finished by saying 'your
daddy told me to tell  you that he loves you more than anything and he is
coming home  very soon.'

The mom at this point was crying almost  uncontrollably and as the young
soldier stood to his feet, he  saluted Courtney and her mom. I was
standing no more than 6 feet  away from this en tire event.

As the soldiers began to  leave, heading towards their gate, people
resumed their applause.  As I stood there applauding and looked around,
there were very few  dry eyes, including my own. That young soldier in one
last act of  selflessness turned around and blew a kiss to Courtney with a
tear  rolling down his cheek.

We need to remember everyday all of  our soldiers and their families and
thank God for them and their  sacrifices. At the end of the day, it's good
to be an  American.

RED FRIDAYS ----- Very soon, you will see a great  many people wearing red
every Friday. The reason? Americans who  support our troops used to be
called the 'silent majority'. We are  no longer silent, and are voicing
our love for God, country and  home in record breaking numbers.

We are not organized,  boisterous or over-bearing.. We get no liberal
media coverage on  TV, to reflect our message or our opinions. Many
Americans, like  you, me and all our friends, simply want to recognize
that the  vast majority of America supports our troops.

Our idea of  showing solidarity and support for our troops with dignity
and  respect starts this Friday - and continues each and every Friday
until the troops all come home, sending a deafening message  that....
Every red-blooded American who supports our men and women  afar will wear
Something red.

By word of mouth, press,  TV -- let's make the United States on every
Friday a sea of red  much like a homecoming football game in the
bleachers.

If  every one of us who loves this country will share this with
acquaintances, co-workers, friends, and family. It will not be  long
before the USA is covered in RED and it will let our  troops know the once
'silent' majority is on their side more than  ever; certainly more than
the media lets on.

The first  thing20a soldier says when asked 'What can we do to make things
better for you?' is...We need your support and your  prayers.

Let's get the word out and lead with class and  dignity, by example; and
wear something red every  Friday.

Taxes, Minnesota and Mr Bly

The following exchange is my latest with David Bly D-25b Minnesota Legislator concerning the recent tax increases voted for by the Democrat controlled House.

Okay....
And money grows on trees.
Notice what  your fellow Democrats have to say.

"What they haven’t done, though, is explain how driving small businesses to business-friendly states like South Dakota will help position Minnesota’s economy for a strong rebound. In fact, what’s happened is that gubernatorial candidate Tom Bakk admitted that raising taxes hurts Minnesota:

Senate Taxes Committee Chairman Tom Bakk, DFL-Cook, said eliminating the current mortgage interest deduction could hurt Minnesota’s high rate of home ownership and higher alcohol taxes would drive some liquor shoppers across the Wisconsin border."

Or
DFL Rep. Gene Pelowski didn’t think much of the DFL’s plan,
"Pelowski said lawmakers won’t have enough votes to override a Pawlenty veto of a DFL tax plan, and said the proposals are a “fiction” that will force lawmakers to scramble to craft another budget proposal after Pawlenty’s veto. “We have to do what is real and not go through an exercise of what-ifs,’” Pelowski said. “There are no what-ifs. There is only the stark reality of this budget deficit.”

White House says No to Jesus, Yes to Allah, on the National Day of Prayer:

Pray in Jesus Name Project

Breaking tradition with President George W. Bush, the Obama administration declined to host an event celebrating the National Day of Prayer this year.  This adds another snub to the pro-faith community, since President Obama continues to push his recent nomination of the anti-Christian, anti-Life Judge David Hamilton, the same judge who issued controversial rulings banning public prayers offered "in Jesus name," and hastening the abortion of unborn children.  If confirmed by the Senate, Hamilton will soon be promoted to the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals, the same court that overruled his aggressive, activist, liberal decisions for years.

Obama's Judge Hamilton ruled in 2005 to ban the practice of opening the Indiana legislature with prayers mentioning Jesus Christ or using terms such as "Savior." He said that amounted to state endorsement of a religion. (But he ruled prayers to "Allah" were perfectly lawful.)

ANTI-JESUS, BUT PRO-ALLAH?

Judge Hamilton wrote: "The injunction orders the Speaker...that the prayers should not use Christ's name or title or any other denominational appeal...If those offering prayers in the Indiana House of Representatives choose to use the Arabic 'Allah'...the court sees little risk that the choice of language would advance a particular religion or disparage others."

In other words, Judge Hamilton ruled the words "Jesus" or "Christ" are illegal words, prohibited for public speech, banned by the First Amendment, which somehow forbids freedom of religious expression, and makes Christian prayers ILLEGAL in a public forum. (What crazy version of the First Amendment is he reading?)

Taxpayers League of Minnesota eUpdate

Taxpayers League of Minnesota eUpdate

1.  5,000-7,000 Minnesotans Made Tax Cut Rally a Success!

2.  Chances of a Special Session Increasing

3.  Obama Proposes More Taxes

4.  Budget Hawks Bash – The Final Showdown

1.  5,000-7,000 Minnesotans Made Tax Cut Rally a Success!

Thank you to everyone who attended the 2009 Tax Cut Rally on Saturday.  The 5,000-7,000 attendees made this the best Tax Cut Rally yet.  Together we sent a clear message that the majority of Minnesotans do not want their taxes increased!

If you would like to purchase the official t-shirt of the Tax Cut Rally, (“Minnesota:  Land of 10,000 Taxes”), please send us a check for $12 each (shirt cost plus shipping) and include the size desired (men’s sizes M, L, XL, and XXL only).  We’ll get the shirt mailed out to you.

2.  Chances of a Special Session Increasing

Like the couple who can’t decide what to do tonight because they just keep saying, “I don’t know; what do you want to do?” the DFL leadership in the State House and Senate can’t make progress on a final tax bill because they can’t agree on a starting point.

Add to that the fact that Governor Pawlenty has already vowed to veto all tax increases, which means that the DFL leadership needs to work on finding an agreement for legislation that will actually be signed by the Governor.  Remember the Democrats had barely enough votes to pass the bloated tax bill the first time.

The deadline for omnibus bills to pass through committees is this Thursday, May 7th.  At the rate they are going, that doesn’t look like it’s going to happen.  Session will end on May 18th, budget agreed upon or not.

3.  Obama Proposes More Taxes

On Monday, President Obama announced his plans to “close tax loopholes.”  That’s code for raising taxes!

President Obama stated his proposed changes would generate $21 billion in new revenue each year.  In addition to closing “tax loopholes” Obama stated the IRS will hire an additional 800 agents to enforce the tax code.  This is the same man that appointed tax cheat Timothy Geithner as Treasury Secretary.  Perhaps President Obama’s theory is “it takes one to know one.”

4.  Budget Hawks Bash – The Final Showdown

Just a few more days remain in the legislative session (at least we still hope).  That means the final showdown against the tax-and-spenders in St. Paul!  Join the Taxpayers League and other conservative organizations fighting to protect your wallet at the Budget Hawks Bash Round III at Trocaderos Nightclub in Minneapolis on Thursday, May 14th from 5-8pm.  Get all the details here.

Tuesday Tidbits!!

From American Thinker we have this about another Edsel errr I mean another B Hussein appointee whom has little or no experience and a few "issues" B Hussein's Car Czar!
"but he has no actual experience in the auto industry. Even worse his firm is now mired in a pay-to-play scandal. This was a problem that the Obama team knew about when it nominated Rattner as the car czar;"
But what did you expect? Obama has no experience and a few "issues" of his own!!

America's Watchtower has a couple of posts about pandering and using ones influence for gain. That would be John Murtha and his Nephew and a 4 million dollar contract!! Of course they are denying it!
More here at Big Dogs House!!
Also at Americas Watchtower. We find this about Obama's thug and his Chicago style politics!! Lets threaten an ally and support terrorists!! But of course!! Islam and Jihadists are okay in this Administrations thinking!!!
But WAIT it does not end!! Another case of Obama thuggery, well learnt it appears from Chicago Gangland!!

Moving over to Atlas Shrugs we find the left and Democrats protecting pedophiles!! All in the cause of Hate Crimes!! What a pile of bull!! Pretty soon the Left will legislate free speech, religion, free speech and the right to defend ourselves away from us?? Someone wants to molest your kid? Let them! But you better not say anything bad about the bottom dwelling scumbags!

From Alphecca. Is Britain's Way the way we are headed?  Think about it!!

From Cassie Fiano whom brings us this!! Which is WRONG!!

From Kellene at Women of Caliber. Bullets work much better and you want distance!! Bullets allow you to reach out and smackdown the bad guy!!

And here at CGO is the gun to do that with!!

Okay enough. Computer issues, eldest son, baseball, youngest.

Universal Health Care!

From The Adventures of Roberta X!
Here's the deal: just as you are not entitled to free food, free housing, a free car or even free potable water, you are not entitled to free health care; each of those things is the result of someone else's labor and if you claim it is yours by right, you are claiming a right to enslave the people who provide it to you. Some friend of the workin' man you are!

That is a great definition and one I try to use on people whom seem to think Universal(paid for by the taxpayer) Health Care is needed. They refuse to take a good hard look at countries that have it and it does not work!! Look at Medicare which is Government run and you can see how well that works!

Terrorists!!

You are all terrorists!! Unless your a Muslim!!
From HOTAIR!!
The new memo obtained by The Daily Beast locates an even wider-ranging group of extremists among us. You could safely say it crosses liberal and conservative lines: Entries range from Mexican separatists to antiabortion extremists to racial Nordic mysticism. (Islamic groups are specifically excluded from this document.)

(U) anti-immigration extremism: (U//FOUO) A movement of groups or individuals who are vehemently opposed to illegal immigration, particularly along the U.S. southwest border with Mexico, and who have been known to advocate or engage in criminal activity and plot acts of violence and terrorism to advance their extremist goals. They are highly critical of the U.S. Government’s response to illegal immigration and oppose government programs that are designed to extend “rights” to illegal aliens, such as issuing driver’s licenses or national identification cards and providing in-state tuition, medical benefits, or public education.
